 Pre - installation Preparation

Before installing aluminum awning windows, thorough preparation is essential. First, the existing window, if there is a replacement, must be carefully removed. This involves disconnecting any hardware, such as locks and handles, and then gently removing the window frame from the wall. Care should be taken not to damage the surrounding wall structure during this process.

The window opening should then be inspected for any damage or irregularities. It needs to be perfectly square, level, and plumb. If there are any issues, such as cracks in the wall or uneven framing, they must be repaired before proceeding with the installation. The dimensions of the window opening are measured accurately to ensure a proper fit for the new aluminum awning window. These measurements should include the width, height, and depth of the opening.

All the necessary tools and materials for the installation are gathered. This includes the aluminum awning window unit, which should be carefully unpacked and inspected for any damage during transit. Other materials such as insulation, sealants, screws, and shims are also prepared. Safety equipment, such as gloves and safety glasses, is essential for the installers.

 Frame Installation

The aluminum awning window frame is the first component to be installed. The frame is placed into the prepared window opening, and its position is adjusted to ensure it is centered and aligned correctly. Shims are inserted between the frame and the wall to level and plumb the frame. A spirit level is used to check the horizontal and vertical alignment of the frame.

Once the frame is in the correct position, it is secured to the wall. For wooden frames, screws are driven through the frame into the wall studs. In the case of masonry or concrete walls, anchors are used to attach the frame securely. The screws or anchors are placed at regular intervals as per the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the stability of the frame.

After the frame is firmly attached, the gaps between the frame and the wall are filled with insulation material. This can be foam insulation, which expands to fill the gaps and provides thermal and acoustic insulation. The insulation helps to prevent air leakage around the window, improving the energy efficiency of the building.
